Zebrafish embryo, from 37 hr. to about 5.5 days, expressing fli1-GFP.
The movie shows a lateral view of the pharyngeal region, anterior is to the left and ventral is down. At the beginning of the movie, the fli1-GFP labelled crest of the first two pharyngeal arches can be seen. Pseudocolored in red and purple are two crest cells in the dorsal posterior region of the second arch that can be tracked to positions adjacent to the developing Opercle bone. Cells were tracked through multiple planes in the Z axis, and the movie shown was made from one representitive Z section. At the end of the movie the clearly identifiable Opercle bone is pseudocolored in blue, and the dorsal second arch cartilage (hyosymplectic) with which it articulates is pseudocolored in yellow.
