The Institute of Neuroscience consists of laboratories with interests in the nervous system, brought together from three departments: Biology, Psychology, and Human Physiology. Doctoral degrees are awarded by departments, so students should apply directly to the department in which they are most interested, and once enrolled, complete their course and exam requirements. Applicants should indicate an interest in the Institute of Neuroscience on the application form.
Training Program
Students participate in journal clubs and attend seminars by invited outside speakers. Advanced students regularly present their results to colleagues here at the University of Oregon and at national and international conferences.
Several training grants are available to provide support for students, to fund student travel, to bring in outside speakers, and to enhance the overall training program. Students admitted to the training program will automatically be considered for support by an appropriate training grant.
We strongly encourage applications from women and individuals from underrepresented minority groups.
