My lab studies selective attention and working memory, using a combination of behavioral and brain imaging methodologies. One prominent theme in my research has been the functional relationships between attention and working memory, where we have found evidence for substantial overlap between the systems that enable perceptual selection and those that support active maintenance of information in working memory.

In recent years we have also focused on the behavioral and neural characteristics of systems for resolving visual interference. Currently we are using similar paradigms to examine the core cognitive deficits in individuals diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Finally, we have a continued interest in developing better cognitive and neural models of working memory.
