The NB 1-1 clone is anterior and a MNB clone is in the next adjacent segment, posteriorly. We chose these movies because they reveal the SPG-A glial cell well in the NB 1-1 clone, the SNb branch of the MNB clone and demonstrate the morphological arrangement of each clone in relation to one another. |

MNB clone : The MNB generates at least 3 cells, that are posteriorly and ventrally located in the segment; they send tightly fasciculating process dorsally and bifurcate at the midline. There are local interneuronal processes that bifurcate again in the longitudinal connectives, each projecting anteriorly and posteriorly. The octopaminergic cell sends long processes to the dorsal muscles via ISN. We found these targets to be highly variable, but we always found the SNb branch to be the same---all SNb targets received innervation from this cell(s). Four ways to view clone: upper left panel is a confocal z-series of DiI labeled clone; sections are 1.5 microns. upper right panel is a projection of z-series, rotated 45 degrees about y-axis. DiI alone. lower left panel is a confocal z-series of DiI-labeled clone in en-GFP background. lower right panel is a projection of the z-series, rotated 45 degrees about y-axis. DiI with en-GFP.
In all cases, anterior is up. Both clones are in abdominal segments. |
