NB 3-1 generates the RP1,3,4,5 motoneurons which innervate muscles 14,28 and 30 in abdominal segments, where these muscles occur. They fail to extend these axons in thoracic segments, where these muscles do not form.
NB 3-1 clone in lower abdomen In abdominal segments posterior to A1, muscles 14,15,28 and 30 form, and the corresponding RP motoneurons appear to innervate them. In all other respects thoracic and abdominal NB 3-1 clones appear to be the same.
