NB 1-1 anteriorly and NB 2-2 posteriorly: The movie begins at the dorsal surface of the clone, aCC and pCC in the more anterior NB 1-1 clone are seen first. We see the interneuronal projections from the NB 2-2 clone in the anterior commissure, extending to the contralateral longitudinal connective, where they turn anteriorly. These interneurons form complex endings in the connective at stage 17. The cell bodies of the NB 2-2 clone are all large. Motoneuronal endings are not shown, but occur at muscles 21,22 and 23.Intersegmental interneurons extend contralaterally in both, anterior and posterior directions. Four ways to view the same clones upper left panel is a confocal z-series of DiI labeled clone; sections are 1.5 microns. upper right panel is a projection of z-series, rotated 45 degrees about y-axis. DiI alone. lower left panel is a confocal z-series of DiI-labeled clone in en-GFP background. lower right panel is a projection of the z-series, rotated 45 degrees about y-axis. DiI with en-GFP.
In all cases, anterior is up. Both clones are in abdominal segments. |
