The NB 4-2 clone is one segment posterior to a NB 3-2 clone.

They are almost mirror images of one another. Each generates a large number of motoneurons and local interneurons.

NB 3-2 anteriorly and NB 4-2 posteriorly:

The dorsal-most cells in both clones are the RP2 and CoR motoneurons. The motoneurons generated from NB 3-2 are more ventrally located. The interneurons from both clones generate almost identical projections.

Four ways to view the same clones.

upper left panel is a confocal z-series of DiI labeled clone; sections are 1.5 microns.

upper right panel is a projection of z-series, rotated 45 degrees about y-axis. DiI alone.

lower left panel is a confocal z-series of DiI-labeled clone in en-GFP background.

lower right panel is a projection of the z-series, rotated 45 degrees about y-axis. DiI with en-GFP.

In all cases, anterior is up. Both clones are in thoracic segments.
